MIGRATION: IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

Gallery hours: Wednesday, Thursday 6-9pm - Saturday, 2-5pm, or by appointment.
Some Sort of Uncertainty, curated by Adriana Rios, creates an immersive atmosphere where spectators are encouraged to reconsider expectations of a traditional art exhibition. This exhibit explores the complex relationships between the object and viewer, the artist’s intent and curatorial practice, and the notion of gallery as art space.
Philadelphia based artist Bruce Campbell explores seemingly empty spaces and actions such as breathing and walking to complete each of his works. In A Warm Breath (For Mark Lapore) manufactured tears, placed on a cool window, remain invisible until the viewer breaths warm air onto the work. Playing with notions of site-specificity and interactivity, Pause—depicted in Braille with points of laser light— creates a feeling of reflection and introspection.
The Institute for Infinitely Small Things encourages interactive engagement and participation in their performance piece This is the Truth and Nothing But the Truth. Members of the collective tell the visitors lies about both the exhibition history and gallery experience, eventually challenging the participant’s perceptions of truth.
Liz Nofziger examines scale and viewer participation in her multi-media works. Often drawn to the discarded, overlooked, and obsolete Liz is inspired by religion, politics, pop-culture, and personal experience. Nofziger’s pieces nowhere I, and nowhere II are comprised of familiar elements that blur the lines between attraction and repulsion, as well as high and low art.
Additional featured artists include: Lina Maria Giraldo, Elias Heim, Brian Knep, Nathalie Miebach, Michael Sheridan, and Douglas Weathersby.

Do Create
date: 2000 / 2001
location: New York, Rotterdam, Paris, Tokyo and London
Do Create was the title of a project by Droog and publicity firm KesselsKramer. The idea was that a brand can be strong; so strong that KesselsKramer decided to create an entirely empty brand. They called it 'do'.
Within the Do Create project consumers were invited to interact and play, and thereby influence the design. You buy an experience: it is what you do to the object or what the object does to you that counts.

We just had a great meeting late last night and have some HUGE plans for the next few weeks. By Friday night we will have this solidified but as of now, we have plans to curate an exhibition (most likely to be composed mainly of Towson artists). Currently:
December 1st : Submissions due
December 3rd : Selections made, pickups and dropoffs of pieces
December 15th: Exhibition Day!
Final dates and times to be posted tomorrow!

Critique!
Our in-class critique was today (Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010) and it was very well received! We had plenty to show of our documentation and plenty more ideas of where to take this next!
